There is incredible diversity in the kingdom of God and there should be. The Church is supposed to be a representation of the Kingdom of God upon the earth. It has the high calling of presenting the manifold wisdom of God among all people groups to set the devil back on his heels. Ephesians 3:9–10 (NASB95) 9 and to bring to light what is the administration of the mystery which for ages has been hidden in God who created all things; 10 so that the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known through the church to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly places.
For this to happen we will see many forms of praise and worship from differing cultures. We will see many differing methodologies of presenting the eternal truths of God. We will see people of all cultures and nations come together in a kaleidoscope of beauty that only the LORD himself can order.
Yet none of these things should change the fundamental truths of the gospel of Jesus Christ. To preach good news without the necessity of the shed blood of Christ is a deception. To tell sinners (of which we all are/were) that they are not sinners in need of a savior, but rather simply in need to be enlightened to their original ‘godhood’ is a false doctrine. To present a kingdom message that is not fully founded upon the person and work of Jesus may end up being a horrible heresy and in fact, another gospel that Paul warned us about.
2 Corinthians 11:4 (NASB95) 4 For if one comes and preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted, you bear this beautifully.
Another (false) gospel is nothing new to the church. Paul had to deal with it in its infancy and we are foolish to think we will not have to be discerning of it today. The problem is some seem to be so willing to accept this as ‘progressive’ revelation in many circles. This too is a false understanding of the unfolding of revelation that the Holy Spirit does continually give us.
…The difference is the Holy Spirit will never reveal anything that contradicts the fundamental truths of scripture.
I am continually grieved in my spirit as I see so many Christians following not simply a modern methodology, but a false gospel that has infiltrated too many streams of Christianity today.
…As I have written before, it’s not the methodologies that concern me but rather the message being preached that strays from the truth.
