Here is the uncomfortable truth, “Some things are too far gone to fix in their present state of chaos and upheaval.” They require a total reset if there is to be any hope of salvaging what little that remains of what was once good, even holy. It should be no surprise to you when I say, “The world, this great nation that we live in and the church at large is due a major ‘reset’.
The nations themselves are raging. Godless countries filled with godless governments and societies abound. Their military powers are increasing and the nuclear threat from rogue nations and terrorist groups is very real.
This country, as great as it once was, is great no longer in the eyes of God. If that statement bothers you, it should. It should bother you enough to want to do something about it when the ‘reset’ occurs. Years of atheistic liberalism, greed, lust, and apathy among God’s people have caused the bulk of this country’s leaders and citizens to turn their back upon the LORD God.
Much of today’s church in America is in a sad state. That’s not a railing judgment but rather a genuine assessment if I am honest. The churches that have fallen into liberalism are obvious to those who understand what fundamental doctrine and biblical practice is all about. Other churches have fallen victim to spreading a cultural Christianity where grace means don’t worry about sins because you’re forgiven and the flippant “don’t worry be happy” mentality. We look and act no different from the world, except on Sunday mornings.
Please don’t quote Romans 5:20 to me where it says where sin abounds grace does much more. That is not an excuse to sin more and expect God to put up with it. Paul makes that clear in the next few verses in that the context is in genuine repentance and turning to Jesus as our righteousness. He goes on to say in Romans 6:1-2 that God forbid we continue in sin after receiving this imputed righteousness!
Instead maybe we need to heed the warning found in Hebrews.
Hebrews 12:25–29 (NASB95)
25 See to it that you do not refuse Him who is speaking. For if those did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, much less will we escape who turn away from Him who warns from heaven.
26 And His voice shook the earth then, but now He has promised, saying, “YET ONCE MORE I WILL SHAKE NOT ONLY THE EARTH, BUT ALSO THE HEAVEN.”
27 This expression, “Yet once more,” denotes the removing of those things which can be shaken, as of created things, so that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.
28 Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe;
29 for our God is a consuming fire.
Reset means to rearrange, set again or to put something back to zero.
When our computers freeze or we get the dreaded blue screen because a software issue has arisen, the only option is to reset it by turning it off and on again. When sin gets to a point of apparent no return, when a people or nation turn their backs upon the God whom they once trusted in…God may have to hit ‘reset’.
This should not make the genuine believer become hopeless! When God hits ‘reset’ it is for our benefit. The children of God shall soon manifest and the earth itself will rejoice. Just don’t lose your faith when the ‘reset’ occurs. God’s got this!
