Inner Peace?

It’s illusive for most of us in the world we live. We may find momentary peace in our places of hideaway whether they are near the mountains, beside a river stream, or simply on the porch with a good cup of Joe early in the morning. However, most of the time it’s temporal at best. We either still have all those stressful things running through our heads or we have to step back into the storm sooner or later.

If you are waiting for peaceful circumstances to surround every area of your life I have a reality check for you. Unless you are simply living selfishly in your own little world or living in denial of the things going on around you, circumstantial peace rarely if ever happens.

Jesus understood this about the life and world that we live in. That’s why He promised us something far better than moments of fleeting peace. He said we may have His.
John 14:27 (ESV) 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

There is a supernatural peace that the Lord intends for you and I to walk in every day and in the midst of every trying situation we face. It’s a gift from Him to His children who learn how to ‘tap’ into it.

Peace is more important than you might think. In fact the Bible tells us our inner peace is a protection for us. It both guards our hearts and minds.
Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Peace keeps deep offenses and personal hurts from getting down in our spirits and making us bitter, resentful, and fearful to keep living and loving. Peace protects our minds from thinking crazy thoughts and making poor decisions.

How we need to tap into the peace of Jesus!
