Is there anything to this ‘Blood Moon’ thing or is it just another in a long list of “Jesus is coming on this date or that.” False alarms? I have lived through the Jesus is coming in 1988? Or was it 1992, or was it 1998, no wait it was the year 2,000 when Jesus was to come back and the world was to end? Thankfully, I never got on any of those bandwagons because it was obvious to me the season was not right even though it appeared the dates could possibly have had some credibility.
I believe many of these prognosticators were very sincere in those years, yet obviously wrong. The problem with picking the dates of Jesus’ return is first Jesus said no man would know the day or the hour and secondly the more we cry ‘wolf’ and nothing happens the less credibility we have with the world and the church concerning prophetic utterance.
So what about the blood moons that we are all hearing about? Are they significant or not? I believe they are very significant for two reasons…
First, the historical events for Israel during a blood moon in feasts times over the last two cycles have been significant. One was their establishment in 1948. The other was in 1967 during the six-day war. For me, these are more than just coincidence.
Second, Jesus did say things like the moon will turn to blood in the end-times and that there would be signs in the heavens. Without a doubt, astronomers are going nuts over the celestial ‘shows’ that are occurring right now in the midst of all this. Everything from comets, asteroids, huge meteor showers, planetary alignments…and a triad of blood moons all going on at the same time.
Is Jesus coming back on one of the ‘blood moon’ dates? Again, no one knows the day or the hour, period. My hunch is Jesus won’t come back on any of these exact dates because it’s just too obvious. HOWEVER, I do believe it is possible that these events are declaring a season where the prophetic calendar could very well speed up.
IF something very significant happens on any of these blood moons relating to Israel again, my advice, “Look up, your redemption draws nigh!” It will most certainly be a sign that the end of the end times is upon us.
Until we get through this, I guess we will just have to wait and see…
