The Power of “Said”

The Bible contains MANY precious and powerful promises! Even so the question is, “How do we get them off the pages and activated in our day-to-day lives?” Jesus also made many promises of Holy Spirit power being released to bless a confused and hurting world.

  • John 14:12 (NASB95) 12 “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I go to the Father.
  • Mark 16:20 (NASB95) 20 And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them, and confirmed the word by the signs that followed.]
  • Acts 1:8 (NASB95)8 but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.”

…Yet the question is again, “How do I get the promises off the pages and the power for them to be released into my life?

The answer to at least part of that question is found in the power of “said”. In Genesis chapter 1 we find the Holy Spirit hovering over the initial chaos of creation. Eight times in the first 26 verses the Word says, “God said…” and whatever God said, came into being. In other words, it appears the Holy Spirit didn’t move until “God said.” As soon as “God said”, the power of the Holy Spirit, who was already hovering over the initial chaos, began to release power to bring about what God had spoken.

My friend, I can not write all the truths surrounding this in a short blog post, but here is a key, “When we say what God said, the Holy Spirit will begin to move in power and order our circumstances according to His more perfect will.” In other words, when we choose to say what God has said in His Word concerning Himself, ourselves as children of God, and our circumstance, the Holy Spirit WILL begin to move in power over them.

That is why the Lord said this to His disciples in:

Mark 11:22–24 (NASB95) 22 And Jesus answered saying to them, “Have faith in God. 23 “Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it will be granted him. 24 “Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you.

I want you to notice Jesus instructs us  “…whoever says to this mountain…“. In other words, we are now to speak in faith the promises of God over our situations and EXPECT God to be faithful to His Word that we have spoken. The Holy Spirit is there in your situation no matter how dark, chaotic, and foreboding it may appear to you. Too many times we wait on God to speak or move when the reality is, “God is waiting on us to speak His Word so that His Holy Spirit may be released in power to deal with the situation!
