Never be Ashamed!

Never be ashamed as to who God has and is making you.  Let me repeat, NEVER be ashamed as to who God has made you and who is continuing to make you even in His refining fire. You may be “different” but you are different because God needed someone to be “different” on His behalf. Normal will get you normal, status quo, which everyone seems to want you to be. These folks are the ones who are waiting for you to calm down or who are demanding you conform to some preconceived idea of what they believe you should be. They will do whatever they deem necessary to make you conform to their image. They idolize themselves, their ways, their thinking, their tradition and they will use whatever measures they have at hand to make you conform to this image. They will push you, pull you, beat you down with words, and seek to shame you for the very things that God has put in you to make you “different”.

God on the other hand is looking for, in fact, God is making many of us “abnormal” according to fleshly reasoning. I love the passage of the apostle Paul in I Corinthians…

1 Corinthians 1:26–29 (The Message)
26–31 Take a good look, friends, at who you were when you got called into this life. I don’t see many of “the brightest and the best” among you, not many influential, not many from high-society families. Isn’t it obvious that God deliberately chose men and women that the culture overlooks and exploits and abuses, chose these “nobodies” to expose the hollow pretensions of the “somebodies”? That makes it quite clear that none of you can get by with blowing your own horn before God.

For those of us who have no formal “pedigree” nor have any “establishment” behind us or backing us, this should bring great comfort and an even bolder faith. We have nothing to brag on except God. We have no one to thank, glorify, or worship but God. For we know we had nothing before Him and in the end we will have none but Him. Don’t expect some people to ever understand this. Their minds are deceived by the  idolizing of their own perceptions.

God knows you and loves you, after all, He is the one who knew you before you were born and said “I like what I see coming!” So He called you and anointed you when no one else would have even considered you.

Psalm 22:9–10 (NASB95)

9 Yet You are He who brought me forth from the womb;
You made me trust when upon my mother’s breasts.
10 Upon You I was cast from birth;
You have been my God from my mother’s womb.

Psalm 139:13–16 (NASB95)

13 For You formed my inward parts;
You wove me in my mother’s womb.
14 I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Wonderful are Your works,
And my soul knows it very well.
15 My frame was not hidden from You,
When I was made in secret,
And skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth;
16 Your eyes have seen my unformed substance;
And in Your book were all written
The days that were ordained for me,
When as yet there was not one of them.

Hold on just a moment…

…Okay, I’m back. I just had to stop a moment and have a Holy Ghost shout or two. And, so should you! It wasn’t the status quo of King David’s day or the religiously pious of Jesus’ day who turned the world upside down. It was a “different” people. A people willing to color outside the lines, a people willing to cross “forbidden” borders so they may experience a life which only God could call them to.
