2 Timothy 4:2 (NASB95)
2 preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction.
I am of the mindset that there is no higher calling upon the earth than the call to preach the life changing Word of God. I am not saying other professions are not important. They are! If God’s called you to be a policeman, a lawyer, a judge, a doctor, even a godly politician or public servant of any kind, than rejoice and put your whole heart into doing what God has called you to do. But if you have been truly called to preach the manifold wisdom of God as presented in His Holy Word…do nothing less! Preach it!
Preach the Word…the world needs to hear it.
The world is dying for truth. Yes they are! There is a hunger in people today like none other. Jesus said don’t wait three months until it’s harvest time but rather open your eyes and see there is a harvest waiting to be reaped today. A watered down word will not save people. Oh, they may become religious and join a “church” social club to feel better about themselves, but this is not salvation. Salvation can only come when the Word, sharper than a two-edged sword pierces their conscience by the power of the Holy Spirit. Remember a harvest is reaped by a cycle. Let the word be sharp so that it may reap a harvest. Preach it!
I am in no way saying we preach a word of condemnation to them. We don’t need too. If we will present the truth in love and holy boldness, the Holy Spirit will take care of convicting them of their helpless state before God. Even so, we must preach the Word as presented, not backing down from one single truth. Nothing irritates me more than to hear a preacher say, “Well, you can’t preach too strong today, you’ll turn people off.” My dear fellow servant, the word of God instructs preachers to just preach it and leave the results to God. Preach it!
Preach the Word…the genuine people of God want it.
There is a plague among the people of God today. It causes them to be weak before the enemy. It’s caused by a lack of meat coming from our pulpits. To many of God’s people in this generation have been fed milk toast. They have had truths presented to them with ice cream and a cherry on top. They have been made to believe God is some Santa Claus in the sky who is to give them what they want when they want it. Because of this they have become weak and unhealthy. Their concept of God has become skewed. They have come to believe God is here to serve us…rather than we are dying daily in service to Him.
Preacher, I tell you most of God’s people want the meat of the Word. If they don’t they are carnal at best or possibly lost at worst. Deep calls to deep in the heart of genuine disciples. Their spirits long for revelation and truth. They are looking for a “living” word, not one rendered null and void by our traditions or muddied by our personal opinions and theological persuasions. Preach the Word! Watch your people grow! Watch as people’s lives are changed, marriages are saved, and more workers in the kingdom come forth.
Just preach it!
